Fenja Charlotte Valentien is a German product designer based between London and Berlin. She completed her Bachelor's degree in Industrial Design at Muthesius University of Fine Arts and Design in Kiel in 2024. During her studies, she gained international experience through an internship at Hylography Design and Prototyping in Cape Town, South Africa, where she further developed her understanding of materiality, prototyping, and product development.
She is currently completing her Master's degree in Product Design at the Royal College of Art in London.
Fenja's design practice is driven by the belief that products should be built to last, both physically and emotionally. Her work explores sustainability through durability, repairability, and material choices, creating objects that are designed for long-term use rather than replacement. She is particularly interested in construction methods that simplify maintenance and repair, extending the lifespan of products while reducing waste.
A recurring theme throughout her work is adaptability. Many of her designs incorporate modular or customizable elements, allowing users to shape products according to their individual needs, spaces, and preferences. Colour plays a central role in this approach, serving not only as an aesthetic tool but also as a means of personal expression and user engagement.
